The Department of Chemical Engineering occupying an area of 3500 m2, is located at Davutpaşa Campus with a modern vision of education and research.

The Department of Chemical engineering has a reading room, computer room, seminar room and classrooms allocated for the undergraduate and graduate students. In the department there are 3 undergraduate and 7 research labs. Various research projects supported by national (DPT, TUBITAK, YTU) and international funds are conducted in the research labs with modern equipment to meet the demands of private and public sector.

The Department of Chemical Engineering with a total of 450 undergraduate and graduate students offers the degrees of Bachelor's of Science (BSc), Master of Science (MS), and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD's). 111 MS students and 24 PhD students graduated between 1983-2003. The Department has presently 13 faculty members with 28 research assistants (some of which have PhD) and 6 managerial and technical staff members.

Yildiz Technical University is located on three different campuses at Beşiktaş, Ayazağa and Davutpasa. The students benefit from the activities of other campuses. A 550 residence capacity dormitory, seven dining halls, canteens and cafeterias, a health centre with an ambulance is available for 24 hours, two sports complexes, a sports centre with a fitness and aerobic room are available on various campuses. Every year in May a student festival takes place where students participate in miscellaneous activities. Various concerts, conferences, exhibitions, scientific meetings and sports tournaments are planned throughout the year on the main campus of Beşiktaş. Students participate in activities like painting, photography, drama, cinema, classical Turkish music, modern and folk dances and benefit from courses on playing classical Turkish musical instruments and guitar.

Students can commute between campuses either by round-trip shuttle services or public and private transportations.

Every year Yildiz Technical University awards scholarships to starting freshman students having the first ten highest entry ranks in the university exams and having the first highest entry rank to every department.

Students also step into scientific and academic world by working as part-time assistants in various projects and assignments. Student counseling is widespread on academic, social and psychological issues.
